Pregnancy is a moment
worth remembering forever.
An underwater maternity session is unlike anything you have experienced before. The water creates a weightless, freeing environment that captures the beauty and strength of this moment in a way nothing else can.
UNDERWATER MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY
For the woman who wants something different.
Pregnancy is a powerful and beautiful moment. An underwater shoot is one of the most unique ways to celebrate it. The water takes care of so much. I take care of the rest.
WHY UNDERWATER
The water creates a weightless freedom.
Underwater maternity is different. It is for the woman who wants a unique experience. The water creates a weightless environment that lets you relax and move in a way that is freeing and captures your creativity in a way that nothing on land can replicate.
Your bump is celebrated, not hidden. The water works with your body in a way that feels magical and looks even more so in photos.

COMMON QUESTIONS
I was nervous too.
Here is what to know.
- You do not need to be a strong swimmer or hold your breath for long. We start in the shallow end where you can stand, and I only need a few seconds underwater to take your photo.
- You can bring your partner, your other children, or come alone. Sessions are entirely tailored to you.
- I provide flowing fabrics, wardrobe and props, or you are welcome to bring your own.
- I have photographed women who were afraid of the water. They left saying they would do it again.
- Your session is private. No one else is in the pool. It is just you, me, and my assistant.
- Flexible payment plans are available to make the investment as easy as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need To Be A Strong Swimmer?
Not at all. Many of my clients are not experienced swimmers. The pool has a 1.3m shallow end and a 3.5m dive pit, so we can work at a depth you feel safe in. I’ll guide you through breathing techniques and gentle underwater movement to ensure you feel comfortable.
Children must be comfortable in the water and be supervised by a parent at all times.
How Long Do I Need To Hold My Breath?
As long as you can. Only a few seconds at a time is necessary to get a beautiful photo. Together, we will practice breathing techniques at a pace that suits you. The aim is to make you feel calm and at ease. This will help produce natural-looking and effortless portraits.
What Should I Wear?
Bright colors and flowy fabrics look amazing underwater! For pregnancy shoots any outfit that highlights your baby bump will work. I have a selection of dresses, skirts, and fabrics available for you to wear, but you’re also welcome to bring your own outfits if you prefer.
I am partnered with Mama Rentals and can offer you a 10% discount for all women’s gown hire. View their collection of gowns here. Once you have booked your shoot, I will send you your unique code to receive 10% off your gown from Mama Rentals.
I also shoot nudes, implied nudes, and boudoirs if that is what you desire.
When Is The Best Time For An Underwater Maternity Shoot?
I recommend booking your maternity session between 28–36 weeks of pregnancy. This ensures your bump is beautifully defined while you still have the energy to enjoy the experience.
How Do You Keep Underwater Maternity Sessions Safe?
Your safety is my highest priority. All Cairns underwater maternity photoshoots are conducted in a private, heated pool unless otherwise arranged. I always have a trained safety swimmer in the water with us and oxygen on site, though we have never needed to use it. I work at your pace, with plenty of breaks, so you can feel completely comfortable and confident throughout your session.
Can You Do An Underwater Maternity Photoshoot In The Ocean?
Due to safety and seasonal conditions in Far North Queensland, I only offer ocean maternity shoots during winter (June to October). From November to May, we are in stinger season, and certain jellyfish species can be dangerous for pregnant women.
We cannot shoot from the beach because crocodiles inhabit FNQ waters.
How Do I Book?
Send me a message below. A $300 session fee secures your date. You will receive a contract, a planning questionnaire, and reminders to keep everything on track.
